CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Lead a team of faculty members responsible for in-house training as a result of a paradigm shift in instruction (from imperative paradigm to object-oriented paradigm). Also heavily involved in curriculum development and curriculum assessment for the past five years.

Key accomplishments:

  • Redesigned computer science basic courses according to the recommendations of IEEE-CS/ACM joint Task Force report published in December 2001.
  • Trained colleagues (through jump-start sessions) to provide the necessary manpower for teaching courses according to the new paradigm.
  • Co-lead a team that successfully conducted a Self-Assessment Exercise for the Computer Science program of my department. Self-Assessment is an intensive exercise that requires reviewing and assessing all aspects of a program in readiness for accreditation by international bodies like ABET. Ours is among the first seven programs in the University to go through this exercise successfully.
  • Won a Distingished Service Award given by the College of Computer Science and Engineering
  • Recently published a paper, in ACM ITiCSE'2005, titled: Principles of curriculum design and revision: a case study in implementing computing curricula CC2001
