History of the Department

The Department was established as part of the university’s commitment to strengthening capacity in quantitative sciences and research.

Over the years, the department has developed into a reputable centre for statistical training and research in Nigeria. It has produced numerous graduates who now serve in universities, government agencies, financial institutions, research organizations, and international institutions.

The Department continues to evolve by updating its curriculum, incorporating modern computational tools, and strengthening collaborations with national institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria and other stakeholders involved in research, policy analysis, and economic development.
